Our Challenge…

Written By: Drew on October 13, 2009 One Comment

I came across this quote today.

“We must use all available technologies and methods to open up the federal government, creating a new level of transparency to change the way business is conducted in Washington, and giving Americans the chance to participate in government deliberations and decision-making in ways that were not possible only a few years ago.“
—From Barack Obama’s campaign platform on technology

Do you think the President can accomplish these goals?  Was it just a campaign promise?  Notice that he says “only a few years ago.”  Is this true?   What will inhibit this progress?  What can we do to impact it?

Food for thought I guess.

It seems to me that the President doesn’t want Americans to participate. Why else would he be trying to sneak through Obamacare? I know it would be tough to read a 1000 page document before deciding to agree or disagree, but it should be read and then decided on. This is such a huge issue that it just doesn’t make sense the way it’s being handled. Big rush to get it through, yet it doesn’t go into effect for four years. Am I missing something here? Since this affects the people and not the government officials, why not let the people make the decision, but make them read it first.
